FAYETTEVILLE — A jury has been seated in the trial of a Springdale teenager charged with first-degree murder and two counts of battery related to a fatal shooting in March 2015 that killed one teen and injured two other young people, Springdale police said.

Hector Saul Ramos, 18, has pleaded not guilty. Court documents filed in Washington County Circuit Court leading up to the trial indicate attorneys for Ramos plan to argue he was acting in self-defense.

Police found Fabian Rodriguez, 18, of 2406 Trudi Place with a gunshot wound in the yard of 32 Applegate Drive at 3:21 a.m., March 13, 2015. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale.

Savannah Smith, 21, and a 14-year-old boy, both with gunshot wounds, arrived at the hospital shortly after the shooting, police said. Neither had life-threatening wounds.

Ramos was 17 when he was arrested. Prosecutors charged him as an adult.
