Mercy earns Energy Star certification

Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas recently earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star certification, meaning the hospital uses less energy, is less expensive to operate and produces fewer greenhouse-gas emissions than most hospitals across the country.

The facility has received the Energy Star designation six times since Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas opened in 2008,

To qualify as an Energy Star facility, organizations need to achieve a score of 75 or better on a 100-point scale based on 12 months of energy-use data. Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas is currently rated an 85.

Healthy Families unit gets accreditation

Prevent Child Abuse America announced that the Healthy Families America affiliate, Healthy Families Benton County, has been accredited as a provider of high-quality home visiting services to families that want to improve their child's health, nutrition and developmental outcomes.

The Healthy Families Program is hosted by Child Care Aware of Northwest Arkansas, a local nonprofit that provides parenting classes, child-care-provider training, referrals to child care, and many other services free to the community.

The process involves an in-depth examination of the site's operation, as well as the quality of the visits made by home visitors. The Healthy Families site in Benton County is at 1200 W. Walnut St. in Rogers, with a home office at Child Care Aware of NWA, 614 E. Emma Ave. in Springdale.
