Logan Easley slapped a two-strike, two-run single over the second baseman and snapped a 7-7 tie to propel Heritage to the big inning and the win.

Heritage coach Mitch Cameron said Easley and his entire team bounced back strong after being shut out by the Rebels (10-6, 3-1 7A-West) on Monday. The junior Wichita State commit popped out to end the game Monday but came up with the big hit a day later.

"It was a tale of two days really," Cameron said. "We talked about it a little bit ago, Logan came up yesterday with the bases loaded and gets jammed and doesn't get the job done. Today, with two strikes, he gets it done. That's where they've all just done a great job of staying with the process."

Junior Noah Guill (1-1) was also big, tossing 3.2 innings of strong relief for the War Eagles to get the win. He did not allow a hit, walked two and struck out two.

Easley was one of four different War Eagles with two hits each. He also drove in three runs and scored twice. Leadoff man Garrett Carmical also went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored three times. Kinner Brasher, who took the loss in relief, led Southside with two hits and two runs scored.

Southside coach Dale Harpenau admitted the game was totally different from a day earlier but thought his team was looking good after battling back from an early deficit to take a 7-5 lead.

"It was 5-2 and we came back and actually took the lead by two and I thought we were in pretty good shape," Harpenau said. "And it turns out to be a 13-7 game and it's a game I thought we should have won. It got away from us in a hurry in the sixth and it snowballed and credit to them."
