$1,500 in quarters stolen from Gentry car wash

GENTRY — Police are investigating the theft of about $1,500 in quarters were stolen from a Gentry car wash, according to police reports.

The quarters were stolen from the car wash at 1182 S. Gentry Blvd. between 3 p.m. on Feb. 27 and 10 a.m. and Feb. 29.

Reports state that the coin box was cut out of the wall from inside the service room at the car wash and emptied. The roof was also raised, indicating that whoever is responsible for the theft appears to have entered through the roof and come down through the attic to steal the coins.

$1,500 in quarters would weigh about 75 pounds.

Another commercial burglary, allegedly occurring between 4:30 p.m. on March 4 and 6:30 a.m. on March 7 at the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Dept., located at 601 N. Gentry Blvd., is also being investigated by Gentry police.

According to police reports, someone broke into the building through a window, stole a number of chain saws, pole saws, a weed cutter, two-way radios and tools owned by department personnel. A soda machine at the facility was also broken into with an undetermined amount of money stolen.
