Romo offers Harper lecture on emoting

San Francisco Giants reliever Sergio Romo warned Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper to be careful about showing emotion and disrespecting the opposition.
San Francisco Giants reliever Sergio Romo warned Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper to be careful about showing emotion and disrespecting the opposition.

Sergio Romo was one of Bryce Harper's critics when the Washington Nationals outfielder said baseball is a "tired sport" and that the unwritten code of conduct should be relaxed so players can show more emotion on the field.

So much so that the Giants relief pitcher had some pretty caustic words for Harper.

"Don't put your foot in your mouth when you're the face of the game and you just won the MVP," Romo said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "I'm sorry, but just shut up."

Romo, 33, is known for being emotional on the field and has tangled over the unwritten codes of conduct.

"As emotional and as fiery as I am, I do my best not to look to the other dugout," he said. "I look to the ground, I look to my dugout, to the sky, to the stands. It's warranted to be excited. But there is a way to go about it to not show disrespect, not only to the other team but the game itself."

Romo has some advice for Harper, 23, who has been in the majors for three seasons.

"My own opinion on any of that, straight up, black and white, the game is bigger than you are," Romo said. "These rules were set well before you arrived. Sorry, there's not one person who's going to change this game. There's not one person who has that power, not even the head honcho [Commissioner Rob Manfred]."

Uh ... sorry ... Champ

New UFC women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is having a little fun with her added celebrity status.

Tate, who finally realized her dream of becoming champion with a come-from-behind fifth round submission of Holly Holm, decided to have a good laugh at the expense of a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer.

A video shows the officer, Russel Mettke, stealing a glance at Tate's backside at the UFC 196 weigh-in when Tate was putting on her shorts over her bikini bottoms before an interview.

Now that a few days have passed, Tate decided to get her revenge by paying the officer a visit and replicating the scene at the weigh-in with the roles reversed.

"Some of you will get this right away!" Tate posted on Instagram. "If you don't, watch the viral YouTube video of officer Russel Mettke and I at weigh ins this past Friday! Paid him a little surprise visit today."

That's great, Nate

Three-time NBA slam dunk contest champion Nate Robinson has set his sights on a career in the NFL.

Robinson's NBA career stalled this season, but he was once a well-known name, winning the dunk contest in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

The majority of Robinson's career was spent with the New York Knicks, but Robinson, 31, had stints with five other NBA teams, before joining the Los Angeles Clippers and then the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 5-9 Robinson originally committed to the University of Washington on a football scholarship and played in 13 games his freshman season, starting 6, and recording 2 interceptions and 34 tackles.

"If you ask people around here, they know. Nate Robinson, his best sport is football," he said in a video posted by TheLeadSports.com. "People tell me all the time, if anybody can play football, it's you.

"For me, I don't think anyone's ever played basketball and football. I mean, you've got Deion Sanders to play football and baseball, Bo Jackson, why not me, Nate Robinson, be the first one to do it?"
