BENTONVILLE -- The owner of a Bentonville assisted-living center pleaded innocent Monday to charges accusing him of sexually assaulting two of the facility's residents.

Angel Totann Floro, 68, of Bentonville is charged with rape, a Class Y felony, and sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony. He entered his innocent plea at his arraignment before Circuit Judge Brad Karren.

Floro is accused of engaging in sexual contact with the two women by forcible compulsion, according to court documents. Forcible compulsion in a sexual assault charge is the use of physical force or threat of death or physical injury.

Police arrested Floro, who owns the New Adams House, on April 19.

Bentonville police were called March 9 about the possible sexual abuse of female residents by a male employee, according to court documents. A female resident said Floro entered her room and touched her in a sexual manner, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Another female resident reported to police Floro touched her inappropriately, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Floro denied the allegations when questioned by police, according to court documents. He was ordered not to have any contact with his two accusers, according to court documents, and he was ordered to stay away from New Adams House.

Floro's next court appearance will be at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10. Floro is free on $50,000 bond.
