U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton said Tuesday that Donald Trump's presidential campaign is not looking to add him to the ticket as candidate for vice president.

The presumptive Republican nominee said last week that the junior senator from Arkansas is "high on the list for something."

In an appearance on KARN news radio, Cotton was asked if Trump's praise meant the campaign had reached out.

"They have not and I am not being vetted," Cotton said.

Politico reported that Trump, while speaking in an interview about national security, praised both Cotton and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, calling the former "popular" and "talented."

"These are two names that I have high on the list for something at least. That I can tell you," Trump said.

Also asked to respond to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn a Texas anti-abortion law, Cotton said he does not consider Republican-appointed Justice Anthony Kennedy a conservative, and lamented that Democrat-appointed justices were more likely to rule in line with the party.

Kennedy joined in the 5-3 decision to overturn the Texas law that restricted the number of clinics in that state.
