Monday recruiting tidbits: Florida DE planning trip to Arkansas

The NCAA dead period for football recruiting starts today and will run until July 10. Coaches and recruits can't have face-to-face contact on- or off-campus during the period.

Coaches can communicate with prospects via social media, email and texting. Recruits can also call coaches.

Defensive end Noah Curtis, 6-6, 228, of Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage, said he plans to visit Arkansas sometime after the dead period. He has offers from Arkansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota and others.

Defensive lineman Javier Edwards, a Florida commitment, said he's looking to attend an Arkansas game this fall.

Edwards, 6-3, 350, of Blinn Community College. was recruited by Arkansas defensive backs coach Paul Rhoads at Iowa State. He has dropped 28 pounds since last season by walking and eating better. He hopes to lose 20 more.

Edwards and Rhoads had an excellent relationship during the recruiting process while Edwards was at Houston Aldine Davis. He said it's a big plus for the Hogs. He also knows Razorback defensive back Willie Sykes.

Four 2018 Arkansas Hawks, forwards Reggie Perry of Tallahassee (Fla.) Maclay Prep and Ethan Henderson of Little Rock Parkview along with guards Desi Sills of Jonesboro and Isaiah Joe of Ft. Smith Northside are expected to visit Arkansas today.

ESPN rates Perry the No. 21 small forward in the nation and Henderson the No. 18 power forward in the nation.

Henderson has added offers from Arizona State and Southern Cal to his others from Arkansas, Notre Dame and LSU.

Perry has recently added offers from Iowa State, Auburn, Georgia, Alabama and Georgia Tech. He also has offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Florida, Mississippi State, Virginia and others. He's expected to announce his college decision later this summer.

Cornerback Endrickson Boucher, 5-11, 170, of Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic, said he's in contact with Arkansas every day since adding an offer from the Hogs with his performance at the satellite camp hosted by Florida Atlantic on June 13.

Arkansas extended an offer to linebacker Monty Rice of Madison (Ala.) James Clemens on Sunday.

2:31 update

Junior receiver Jammal Houston, 6-2, 175, 4.42 of Marrero, (La.) John Ehret received an offer from Arkansas today. He's first cousins with Hog freshman linebacker De'jon Harris, who also attended John Ehret.

Arizona, Virginia Tech and Louisiana Tech are among his other offers. He said he's hoping to visit Fayetteville after the dead period.
