WASHINGTON COUNTY

Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 2901 E. Zion Road, Suite 17, has called the Rev. Richard A. Solberg as interim pastor. A reception to honor his 49th year of ordination is planned for 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

Solberg is a 1967 graduate of Augusta Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Ill. He served as pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers for 22 years, beginning in 1974. He was the organizing pastor for the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista in 1974-75 and returned as interim minister in 2009-10.

The Unitarian Universalists Fellowship in Fayetteville, 901 W. Cleveland St., present Doug Krueger speaking on “arcane” arguments for atheism at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Mount Sequoyah Conference and Retreat Center in Fayetteville, 150 N. Skyline Drive, hosts the Kanakuk KampOut! on Monday to Friday. The five-day traveling day camp includes Bible study, worship, small group time with counselors and outdoor activities for children in kindergarten to the fifth grade. The camp is sponsored by the Grove Church, 2223 N. College Ave., in Fayetteville.

Elm Springs United Methodist Church, 118 N. Elm St., presents “Surf Shack” vacation Bible camp from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 18-22. The camp is for children in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

BENTON COUNTY

Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, 2535 W. New Hope Road, will host students in the Ozark Mission Project from July 10-16. The youth will serve in the community, completing yard work, making home repairs, building wheelchair ramps and more. The church accepts applications for projects until July 1.

More than 60 youth from the church will have worked this summer in Hot Springs, Pine Bluff and Jonesboro.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., offers vacation Bible school today through Tuesday. “Cave Quest: Following Jesus the Light of the World,” for children ages 4 through sixth-graders, meets from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., presents Cliff Shelder with special music during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. Shelder sings classic country and gospel music.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., presents the musical The Home of the Brave in performances at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. today. The concert is free, but tickets for seating are required and available on the church website.

The church has awarded two scholarships for the coming year. Tim Colville will attend Northwest Arkansas Community College, and Isaac Hass will attend the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 SW. Second St., Suite E, Bentonville, presents Bax Tracy, speaking on a “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A potluck follows the service. Tracy’s presentation is based on Unity Principal No. 4 about affirmative power of prayer and how it increases awareness of God.
