Authorities: Arkansas woman killed father in self-defense in 2012 Christmas Eve fight

An 85-year-old man was killed in Rogers on Christmas Eve 2012 when he tried to attack his daughter because he was upset about the preparation of Christmas dinner, according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

The case has now been resolved, and no charges will be filed, according to the news release.

In 2012, detectives went to the residence on East Arkansas 12 in Rogers and found the man dead with a stab wound to his chest, according to the news release.

The man was identified as Sigismund Rahn. His body was sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory, where an autopsy was performed. The results of the autopsy showed the death to be homicide, according to the news release.

Witnesses in the case maintained that Rahn had accidentally fallen on the knife, according to the news release.

The case remained open and in May of this year was reassigned to Sgt. Hunter Petray and Lt. Ed Motsinger, who questioned the witnesses again, according to the news release.

Monica Rahn, the daughter of Sigismund Rahn, admitted to stabbing her father in self-defense as he tried to attack her in the kitchen area of the residence, according to the news release.

She stated her father was upset about the preparation of Christmas dinner and that he attacked her in past and also had threatened to kill her, the news release stated.

The detectives conducted a case review with the Benton County prosecuting attorney’s office.
