SPRINGDALE -- Brett Granata held off a furious rally by first-round leader Chris Collins to win the 78th Dwight Collins Chick-A-Tee Invitational on Sunday at Springdale Country Club.
Granata built a five-stroke lead through two rounds thanks to his second-day eight under par 64. But Collins, the first day leader after a 64 of his own, tested Granata to the near finish.

Five straight birdies over a six-hole stretch by Collins brought the five-hole margin between the two down to one over the final few holes. But on the par 4 8th -- the players 17th hole of the day -- Granata got the swing back in his favor. A poor tee shot by Collins led to his only bogey of the day, and on the same hole Granata's approach shot was played near perfectly, leaving him a short birdie attempt below the hole.
The birdie found the cup, and the two-stroke swing left Granata with the three-stroke margin going to the final hole. Despite a bogey on No. 9, Collins couldn't catch him with a par on his card as Granata grabbed his second Chick-A-Tee championship trophy in the last three years, scoring a 69 Sunday for a whopping 13-under 203 for the 54-hole tournament.
"I had several putts that just burned the edge, and (Chris) kept making putts," Granata said. "Then he made bogey on that one hole, and I finally got one to go for me on that same hole, and that kind of helped out a little bit."
Collins finished at 11-under 205 and actually had the best round on both Friday and Sunday. He pointed back to Saturday's round of 75 as the biggest difference. And the one bad hole during his final round.
"I had one bad hole, and I hit it better today than I did on Friday," Collins said. "For some reason the golf club (Saturday) felt like it was foreign in my hands, and (Saturday) cost me the golf tournament."
Granata's final round went much like his Chick-A-Tee win in 2014. Up by five strokes through two rounds that year, the lead was trimmed to one before he held on for the victory.
"Drew (Stewart) got close to me a couple of years ago, and Chris did it this year," Granata said. "It happened at about the same time in the round, and I just had to hang in there."
Granata played holes 10-18 at one under and used an eagle at the par 5 2nd to get to 3-under for the day. But Collins kept up at an ever hotter pace, getting his round to eight under through the first 15 holes before finishing at 6-under 66.
"Chris played great today and made a whole bunch of putts," Granata said. "I threatened to break his putter one time in the cart."
In the senior flight, Rick McClintock scored a four-over 220 to win over Jarrell Williams who finished at 224.
