Police: Officer shoots, injures man Sunday morning in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- Springdale police shot and injured a man early Sunday morning after responding to a domestic disturbance on Joye Street.

Shawn Brown, 36, was shot after refusing Officer Cody Combs' orders to drop a rifle he was holding, according to a department news release.

Brown was transported to Northwest Medical Center and reported to be in stable condition. The release did not say how many times Brown was shot

Combs has been placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an internal investigation, the release said. The Washington County Sheriff's office also is investigating the shooting, the release said.

Police went to 1100 Joye St. about 2:06 a.m. for a domestic disturbance, according to the release. When officers entered the house, Brown confronted them with a rifle.
