Two days of action in the “Tour de Fun” on Friday and Saturday will help support the Teen Action and Support Center in Rogers. A 5K timed run in downtown Rogers will lead off the events Friday, with 100K and 50K bike rides set for Saturday.

Brenda Majors, development director, said fundraisers like Tour de Fun “are critical to our ability to operate and offer services.”

The nonprofit organization based in Rogers offers a variety of programs for area teens such as In Service, which provides opportunities to participate in service projects around Northwest Arkansas — such as at Tri Cycle Farms and Seeds That Feed.

In one of the organization’s newer programs, TeenThink, “Teens are challenged to create impactful service projects for Northwest Arkansas” — including coming up with the concept, development, budget and implementation. Through TeenThink, the group created an awareness event for Seven Hills Homeless Center and is working on an interactive map for the Razorback Greenway for local distribution.

Majors said TASC participants provided more than 4,200 volunteer service hours to 29 service projects this year.

Other program offerings include more than 700 hours of free individual, family and group counseling annually and First Steps to assist pregnant or parenting teens with information resources and supplies.
