Applications for Arkansas alligator hunts now available

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is now taking applications online for the 2016 alligator season.

Applications can be made at www.agfc.com through midnight June 30.

Alligator hunting permits are available only to Arkansas residents who hold an Arkansas Lifetime Sportsman's Permit, and applicants must be at least 16 years old the day the hunt begins. Anyone with 12 or more Game and Fish Commission violation points is ineligible to apply.

Each permit authorizes the taking of one alligator, which must be at least 4 feet long. Alligator hunting is allowed 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise from Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 23-26. Both hunts are Fridays through Mondays.
