Taylor Powell, senior quarterback at Fayetteville, committed to Wake Forest on Saturday.
Powell, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound All-State selection from a year ago, had Division I offers from Vanderbilt, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Purdue, Washington State, San Diego State, Arkansas State, Memphis and Louisiana-Monroe.
The 2015 Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Offensive Player of the Year, Powell passed for 3,549 yards and a Class 7A record 49 touchdowns in leading Fayetteville to the state championship as a junior.
"I'm extremely excited to announce that I will be fulfilling my dream of playing college football at Wake Forest University!" Powell wrote on his Twitter account Saturday. "Go Deacs!"
