Suspicious vehicle report leads to arrest of man on drug, gun charges, Little Rock police say

A Dumas man was charged with drug and illegal gun possession Saturday night after someone called Little Rock police about a suspicious vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Officers said they could smell marijuana as they approached a car in the 5800 block of Stanley Drive, according to the report. They arrested the man in the car and found a gun, marijuana and a scale.

James Edward Riney, 32, was charged with possession of marijuana with purpose to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simultaneous possession of a gun and drugs. Riney was also charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons.

He was taken to the Pulaski County jail, and he was being held Sunday night in lieu of bond.
