'Art Craft Art'

Matt McLeod Fine Art Gallery, 108 W. Sixth St., Little Rock, will hold a reception from 5-8 p.m. today for the opening of "Art Craft Art," subtitled "An Explanation of the Definition of Craft and Where the Lines Blur."

The exhibition, on display through July 21, includes glasswork by James Hayes; metal and mixed-media sculpture and jewelry by David Clemons; woodwork and furniture by Lucas Strack; glass bead jewelry by Fox couple Sage and Tom Holland and their son, Beau Anderson, currently living in France; jewelry by McLees Baldwin and Susan Campbell; paper and mixed-media sculpture by Leandra Spangler; fiber art by Barbara Cade; metal and mixed-media sculpture and jewelry by Carrie Crocker; ceramic and mixed-media sculpture by David Scott Smith; tapestries by Louise Halsey; and ceramic sculptures and teapots by Steven Driver.

Brad Cushman, gallery director and curator of exhibitions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will moderate a discussion connected to the show at 2 p.m. June 25 at the gallery, with participating artists Clemons, metalsmithing instructor at UALR; the Hollands; and Driver. Stagecoach 'sandwich'

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program's next "Sandwiching in History" tour will visit the Dr. Clarence W. Koch House (also known as the Castle on Stagecoach), 6601 Stagecoach Road, Little Rock, at noon Friday. The house, designed by Little Rock architect Ed Brueggeman for a dentist and his wife and completed in 1935, resembles a French chateau and is often referred to as the Castle House; it is now a private residence and a wedding, event and Sunday brunch venue. The property also features a stone horse barn and a guest house. Admission is free; participants should provide their own lunches. Seeing Stars

The filming of the 1957 movie Raintree County in Natchez, Miss., with stars Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift and a hometown "cast of characters," is the setting for Seeing Stars in Dixie by Ron Osborne, which the Pocket Community Theatre, 170 Ravine St. at Ramble Street, just off Park Avenue, Hot Springs, will stage at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and June 10-11 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday and June 12. 'Family' paintings

Paintings by Laura Raborn, Rebecca Thompson and Emily Wood, connected by relationships that embody the idea of family, go on display at Justus Fine Art Gallery, 827A Central Ave., Hot Springs, opening with a reception from 5-9 p.m. Friday in conjunction with the monthly Hot Springs Gallery Walk.

Camden cinema

The City of Camden opens its 2016 Movies on the River summer series with a screening of the PG-rated The Good Dinosaur at approximately 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Camden Riverwalk Amphitheater, 405 Washington St. S.E., Camden, against the backdrop of the Ouachita River. Admission is free.

'Stepping' out

The Memphis-based Side-Street Steppers will perform twice Saturday at Ozark Folk Center State Park, 1302 Park Ave., Mountain View: 2 p.m. in the Craft Village ($12, including Craft Village admission) and 7 p.m. in the Large Auditorium ($12). A combo ticket for both performances and all-day Craft Village access is $19.50. The concert will be recorded for rebroadcast on the public radio show Ozark Highlands Radio (OzarkHighlandsRadio.com).
