Springdale High School

Abigail Adams of Springdale has received an academic achievement scholarship to Pittsburg (Kan.) State University, a Pepsi-Cola academic achievement award and Pete Esch Business scholarship. Adams is the daughter of Elizabeth and Charles Adams and will be majoring in management and marketing.

Graceland University

Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, recognizes two area students for their work with school clubs this year. Katelyn Metcalf of Mountainberg served as editor of the Acacia student yearbook. Alexandria Krabbenhoft of Rogers served as executive committee member of student athlete advisory committee.

Westminster College

Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., graduated the following local students in May: Zachary Olson of Bella Vista, with a degree in biochemistry; John Scott of Fayetteville, biology; and Ashley Schimmel of Rogers, biochemistry.

Southern Arkansas University

Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia awarded scholarships for the 2016-17 academic year to several students from the region.

Caleigh Fletcher of Ozark High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 over four years. Fletcher is the daughter of Courtney Owen.

David Dawkins of Bentonville High School, Presidential Scholarship; $5,500 per semester, $44,000 four years. Dawkins is the son of Daniel Dawkins.

Madison McMillan of Fayetteville High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000, four years. Mcmillan is the daughter of John Mcmillan.

Tayler Markham of Van Buren High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship, $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years. Markham is the daughter of Trey Markham.

Lindsay Reagan Nichols of Bergman High School, University Scholarship; $4,500 per semester, $36,000 four years. Nichols is the daughter of Chuck Nichols.

Victoria Taylor of Greenwood High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 for years. Taylor is the daughter of John Taylor.

Emily Potts of Har-Ber High School in Springdale, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26, 400 four years. Potts is the daughter of Rob Potts.

Allison Arnold of Greenland High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 four years. Arnold is the daughter of Becky Arnold.

Jacob Crommett of Har-Ber High School in Springdale, University Scholarship; $4,500 per semester, $36,000 four years. Crommett is the son of Pat Crommett.

Madison Vickery of Prairie Grove High School, University Scholarship; $4,500 per semester, $36, 000 four years. Vickery is the daughter of Christina Vickery and Joshua Vickery.

Kaitlyn Pope of Springdale High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 four years. Pope is the daughter of Carey Herold.

Sydney Walker of Prairie Grove High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26, 400 four years. Walker is the son of Tracy Walker.

Hannah Copeland of Lincoln High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26, 400 four years. Copeland is the daughter of Destiny Copeland.

Rachel Dauplaise of Bruno Pyatt High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 four years. Dauplaise is the daughter of Tammy Dauplaise and Richard Dauplaise.

Zachary Grigg of Green Forest High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26, 400 four years. Grigg is the son of Laura Miller.

Travis Nichols of Ozark High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26, 400 four years. Nichols is the son of Rhonda Nichols.

Erin Burch of Mountain View High School, Presidential Scholarship; $5,500 per semester, $44,000 four years. Burch is the daughter of Jennifer Burch and William Burch.

Katherine Willhite of Northside High School, University Scholarship; $4500 per semester, $36,000 four years. Willhite is the daughter of Ramona A. Willhite.

Hagan Wiggins of Bentonville High School, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 four years. Wiggins is the son of Melanie Wiggins and Erick Wiggins.

Madison Mick of Har-Ber High School in Springdale, Achievement Scholarship; $1,000 per semester, $8,000 four years. Mick is the daughter of Byron Mick.

Mara Nolan of Rogers New Technology High School in Rogers, Top Ten Percent Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years. Nolan is the daughter of Lisa and Keith Nolan.

Curtis Privett of Paris High School; Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years. Privett is the son of Lisa Privett.

Cora Engen of Rogers Heritage High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years. Engen is the daughter of Veronica Engen.

Scarlett Duncan of Rogers Heritage High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years. Duncan is the daughter of Crystal Duncan.

Austin Vredenburg of Ozark High School, Blue and Gold Scholarship; $3,300 per semester, $26,400 four years Blue and Gold Scholarship from SAU. Vredenburg is the son of Gail and Daniel Vrendenburg.

St. Olaf College

St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., recently inducted Katherine Kroening of Fayetteville into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics.

Kroening attended Fayetteville High School, and is the daughter of Paige and Robert Kroening.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock

Charlie Tran of Fort Smith earned the Dean's Academic Merit Scholarship from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The schoarship awards a total of $24,000 for four years. The scholarship for entering freshmen requires a 26 or higher score on the ACT and a 3.0 high school grade-point average.

University of Evansville

Holyn Marshall of Bentonville graduated May 7 from the University of Evansville in Indinana, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, management.

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith

Two University of Arkansas-Fort Smith nursing students were recognized during an end-of-semester awards ceremony for the university's College of Health Sciences.

Cameron Bruso of Van Buren was named valedictorian, and Taylor Brandli of Gravette was named salutatorian.

Bruso also received the Outstanding Clinician in Nursing award, determined by the faculty and presented to a student who has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 higher and demonstrates clinical practice, leadership ability and professional characteristics.

Brandli received the Carolyn McKelvey Moore School of Nursing Spirit award, nominated by her peers as a role model in the program, involvement in school activities and organizations, leadership experiences and academic performance.

Lake Forest Academy

Kayrat Bektemirov of Fayetteville, a student at Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy earned a bronze medal in National Spanish Exam Competition. The annual exam is distributed by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese measures reading, listening and writing skills of students learning Spanish in secondary schools.

Saint Louis University

Christina Hacala of Bentonville received a bachelor of arts in anthropology and English from Saint Louis University during commencement ceremonies May 14. Hacala is a 2012 graduate of Bentonville High School.

Benedictine College

Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., named several local students on the dean's list for the spring 2016 semester. They include Daniel Hubbard of Rogers, John Hubbard of Rogers and Matthew Phillips of Booneville.

Lehigh University

Nitis Udornpim of Bentonville graduated May 23 with a bachelor of science degree in finance from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

Union University

John Colton West of Fayetteville graduated May 21 from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., with a master of fusiness admininistration.

Combs receives scholarship

Sydney Combs of Bentonville has been awarded a Patrick Calhoun Leadership Scholarship for 2016 to attend the Leadership Institute's Youth Leadership School in July in Arlington, Va. The scholarship's purpose is to prepare young Arkansans for leadership, advance conservative principles and build a vibrant two-party system. It was founded by Morton Blackwell, a former aide to President Ronald Reagan.

Combs is a student at the University of Arkansas, majoring in political science and law. She is vice chair of College Republicans and a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Combs graduated from Life Way Christian School in 2013, worked on the election campaigns for Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and State Representative Elect Austin McCollum and is the daughter of LaDonna and Chris Combs of Bentonville.

Central Methodist University

Several local students at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., lettered in their sports during the 2015-16 year.

Mia Stone of Winslow, a senior athletic training major, lettered in basketball; Max Hotelling if Bentonville, a senior middle school social sciences education major, football; Brandon White of Rogers, a sophomore sports management major, football; Brandon Jansen of Springdale, a senior mathematics major, baseball

Baylor University

Baylor University in Waco, Texas, conferred degrees to several local students during commencement exercises May 13-14.

Shelby Armstrong of Fayetteville, bachelor of science, biology; Alaina Simmons of Fayetteville, bachelor of science in nursing, cum laude; Hannah Weber of Fayetteville, bachelor of arts, political science, magna cum laude; Tyler Fry of Green Forest, bachelor of science, mechanical engineering, summa cum laude; and Jennifer Lopes-Silva of Springdale, bachelor of science in nursing.

University of Central Oklahoma

The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla., named several local students to the school honor rolls.

Students on the president's roll earned grade-point averages of 4.o. They included Addie K. Frick of Bentonville, Kelsey Wilson of Rogers and Addison Warren of Siloam Springs.

Students on the dean's list earned grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. They included Thu Ngo of Fayetteville and Sudikshya Dawadi of Springdale.

Southern Arkansas University

Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia listed students on the spring 2016 president's list with grade-point averages of 4.0.
