Back to School events at church

Saint Mark Baptist Church is hosting a "Back to School Week" featuring several free events for students, parents and law enforcement from Wednesday through Aug. 6. All events will be at the church, 5722 W. 12th St. in Little Rock.

Events will begin with a panel discussion, "Know Your Rights," at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The discussion will focus on the relationship between the community and law enforcement officers and will include Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner, Little Rock police detective Dawana Phillips and Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola, as well as Marion Humphrey, a former Pulaski County juvenile court judge.

The discussion will be broadcast live on KLRT-TV (Fox 16). Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m.

An Educator Appreciation Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Thursday. Seats can be reserved online at stmark.org.

A Youth Party Night for elementary, middle and high school students will be held 7-10 p.m. Friday in the Children and Youth Center and a Back to School Health Fair will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 6. The fair will include free immunizations, school physicals, school uniforms and backpacks while supplies last. Parents are urged to bring their children's immunization records.
