SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Jonathan Rodriguez hit a pair of solo home runs and three hits, and Luke Weaver allowed just three hits over eight innings as the Springfield Cardinals topped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 10-2 on Thursday.
Weaver (5-3) picked up the win after he struck out eight while allowing two runs.
With the game tied 1-1 in the sixth, Springfield went out in front when Casey Turgeon and Luis Cruz hit RBI singles.
NW Arkansas answered in the next half-inning when Ryan O'Hearn hit a solo home run to get within one.
The Cardinals later scored seven runs in the eighth to punctuate the blowout.
Eric Skoglund (6-8) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out two and walked four.
