Pedestrian struck, killed on Arkansas street

BLYTHEVILLE -- Police identified a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday as she walked along a Blytheville street.

Lakeyda Brown, 37, was struck while walking on South Division Street at 9 p.m. Sunday, said Capt. Scott Adams of the Blytheville Police Department.

Adams said Brown was taken to Great River Medical Center in Osceola where she died from her injuries.

Family members identified Brown at the hospital at 2:15 a.m. Monday, Adams said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Brown said he did not see her and the area was poorly lit, Adams said.

The driver, whom police did not name, was not charged.
