• D. Jean Gibson, a chiropractor at The Gibson Center in Fayetteville, was recognized by the American Institute of Chiropractors as one of 2016’s 10 Best Chiropractors for Client Satisfaction. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and her master’s degree in exercise physiology from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. She returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in anatomy and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College in Dallas. She opened Gibson Chiropractic in 1993 in Fayetteville.

• Douglas Ortz was hired by TeleComp to be business development manager in Northwest Arkansas. He brings years of local businessto-business customer service and sales experience in the yellow pages industry. Ortz is also the owner and founder of Buzzin’ Pockets, a local text message marketing company.

• Angela Whitlow was promoted to vice president at Arvest Bank in Springdale. Whitlow has worked with Arvest Bank for more than 18 months as human resources manager. She worked for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for 24 years, the last 14 years in human resource management. She was certified as a Human Resource Professional in 2006 and is a member of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management and the National Society of Human Resource Management.

• Edward Serna was promoted to chief of staff and associate vice chancellor for external funding at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He was the university’s director of grants management and compliance. He has also worked as a project manager with Science & Engineering Services in Huntsville, Ala.; a consultant for the U.S. Army and NASA; and an assistant professor at Athens State University in Athens, Ala. Serna earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, S.C.; a master’s degree in industrial management from Clemson University, Clemson, S.C.; a master’s degree in information systems from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.; and a doctorate from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
