Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin comes up with the ball after tagging out Detroit Tigers' Victor Martinez during the second inning of a baseball game in Toronto, Saturday July 9, 2016.

But 48 cents for a jersey -- any jersey -- is a real bargain.

A few weeks after Durant bolted to the Golden State Warriors, a local Oklahoma City sporting goods store marked No. 35 jerseys down 99 percent and sold them for less than two quarters.

It appears the sporting goods store was making a statement more than a business move. According to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell, they originally went for $69.99 and eventually sold out.

Did Seth Curry hit the sale? On Thursday, the Dallas Mavericks point guard -- and younger brother of Durant's new teammate Stephen Curry -- posted a picture of him wearing a Durant Thunder jersey.

Outspoken TNT analyst Charles Barkley still isn't convinced the Golden State Warriors are heading toward an extended run of championship success despite adding prized free agent Kevin Durant to its strong roster.

Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle passed along comments the 11-time NBA All-Star made Friday before his round in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. He doesn't believe adding another high-end perimeter player alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson was the answer.

"It's exactly what I said was going to happen: If they played a couple good teams, they were going to wear down," Barkley said. They weren't going to make all those jump shots. ... They've got a great organization. I love Steph [Curry] and Klay [Thompson]. But I don't think small ball works, and it didn't work in the Finals."

Barkley chalked up the Warriors' title in 2015 to good luck because they faced teams dealing with injury problems while they remained mostly healthy.

Shower struggles

The Toronto Blue Jays had high expectations for catcher Russell Martin in 2016, but the four-time All-Star has been struggling offensively and now has an injured knee to deal with.

Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons announced Friday that Martin suffered a knee injury due to falling in the shower after he got lightheaded from spending too much time in the sauna on Thursday, according to Hazel Mae of SportsNet.

Martin was experiencing a late-career renaissance, finishing in the top 25 in MVP voting in the previous three seasons. This year, however, has not been kind to Martin offensively. He's hitting just .228 with a .317 on-base percentage. He has 7 home runs in 81 games after hitting 34 the previous two seasons combined.

Head-scratcher

During the second inning of a Tampa Bay-Colorado game Wednesday, Rays outfielder Steven Souza threw home trying to keep Mark Reynolds from scoring on a would-be sacrifice fly.

Souza made a perfect throw and Reynolds was ruled out at the plate, but the Rockies challenged the call, asserting that Rays catcher Curt Casali never made the tag. Reynolds was ruled safe after umpires discussed the play with replay officials for more than five full minutes, but the same replay appeared to show that Reynolds missed the plate entirely on his slide.

MLB's replay regulations state that for Reynolds to have been ruled out for missing the plate, Rays Manager Kevin Cash would have had to appeal Reynolds' failure to touch home plate before the umpires got on their headsets. But Cash obviously had no real reason to do that, since Reynolds had been called out on the field.
