Matt Zimmerman, an Arkansas assistant basketball coach the previous five seasons, will be the new color analyst on the Razorbacks' radio broadcasts, it was announced Wednesday.

Zimmerman is replacing Scotty Thurman, Arkansas' former director of student-athlete development, who is now an assistant coach and was the radio color analyst the previous two years.

After Thurman was added to the coaching staff, Zimmerman became director of basketball operations.

Zimmerman will work on the radio with Chuck Barrett, who will be Arkansas' radio play-by-play man for the seventh consecutive year.

Zimmerman, an Arkansas graduate, said in a news release that he was humbled to be added to the radio broadcast team and thanked Athletic Director Jeff Long, Coach Mike Anderson and David Shoemaker, the general manager for Razorback Sports Properties.

“Matt will bring energy and an informed basketball perspective to his role as the color analyst on our men’s basketball broadcasts,” Long said in a statement. "His passion for the Razorbacks and for the game of basketball is something that I know will resonate with Razorback fans."

Zimmerman was an assistant coach for 14 years with Anderson at Alabama-Birmingham, Missouri and Arkansas and previously was a high school head coach at Dardanelle and Planview-Rover for six years.
