2 Arkansans killed in separate crashes

Two men were killed in separate crashes on Arkansas roads Monday, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

A Fordyce man died Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Arkansas 35 in Cleveland County, according to a report.

Demarcus Levar Cones, 24, was headed north when he attempted to negotiate a curve and crossed the centerline, crashing into a 2016 Dodge Ram at about 2:30 p.m., police said.

Cones, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Dodge Ram, 37-year-old Luther Drye, was injured in the crash.

A 61-year-old man was killed Monday after the Toyota RAV4 he was driving crashed through two fences and struck a tree, according to a report.

James Street of Peel was driving east on U.S. 412 in Carrollton when he veered off the road at around 11:08 a.m., police said. The small SUV went through the fences and crashed into the tree, according to the report. Street was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the weather was clear and the road was dry in both crashes.
