Little Rock customers told of FedEx adjustment because 'contingency plan' in place

FedEx Express and Ground customers in downtown Little Rock were alerted via email to a change in package pickup time for today.

Pickup and drop boxes are being serviced before 4:45 p.m., customers were told. FedEx spokesman Jim McCluskey confirmed that a "contingency plan" was in place for Little Rock.

McCluskey said changes in pickup times are not unusual for the Memphis-based international shipping company. He cited weather and major events such as the upcoming Democratic and Republican National conventions in Philadelphia and Cleveland as examples of when the company would put a contingency plan in place.

Details on what prompted the changes were not available, McCluskey said. He added that he was not aware of any changes to pickup times in other markets across the U.S.

"Contingency planning around weather or other events is common within our extensive network to ensure we provide the best service possible to our customers," McCluskey said via email.
