Hutchinson, Griffin pleased with Pence as Trump veep pick

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas' governor and lieutenant governor say they're pleased that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence to be his running mate.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson called Pence a "thoughtful" leader and said the selection would give Republicans and independents confidence in a Trump presidency.

Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin says Pence brings traits Trump might not have. Griffin and Pence were on the House Judiciary Committee in Congress.

Griffin called Pence smart, thoughtful, serious and steady. He said the Indiana governor was "not a knee-jerk kind of guy" and "very deliberate." The Arkansas lieutenant governor said those were qualities that "Trump needs a dose of."

Griffin criticized presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, calling her untrustworthy and saying she needs a running mate "familiar with the truth."
