Drowning victim ID'd; 2nd body found

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies found the body of 55-year-old man in the Arkansas River near the Interstate 430 bridge early Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, authorities identified a Little Rock man who drowned Monday in the Arkansas River near Murray Park, officials said.

A water patrol unit, along with the department's investigations division, was dispatched to the area at 12:21 a.m. Tuesday after a fisherman said he had possibly found a dead person in a low-water creek on the north side of the river by the interstate bridge, according to the report.

The department Tuesday night identified the body as Randy Tims. Family members reported Tims missing to the sheriff's office Saturday, said department spokesman Capt. Carl Minden.

According to a report, Tims' sister said he had been missing since July 2, and was intoxicated and was not speaking clearly on that day.

The investigation is underway and the department is awaiting a cause of death report from the medical examiner's office, Minden said.

In the Monday night drowning, Marcus Deshun Turner, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene after he stepped into a recessed area and went under the water, said Minden. Turner was walking on a sandbar with a woman at the time, Minden said.

Minden estimated the water's depth at less than 5 feet, and said Turner was not a strong swimmer.
