Burgess let go of some collectibles

STILL ROCKIN' BUT ROLLIN': Original Sun recording artist Sonny Burgess, a longtime member of Sonny Burgess and the Pacers, is pulling up stakes in his longtime hometown of Newport to move in with his son in Little Rock.

He's sold his Newport home, and a sale, mostly of his furnishings, will be held beginning at 9 a.m Saturday by Grady Auctions & Realty at the home at 329 Wilkerson Drive.

Burgess donated some of his photographs and posters to the Rock 'n' Roll Highway 67 Museum in Newport. The sale, billed as "Living Estate of Sonny Burgess," mentions "a lifelong collection of rockabilly memorabilia including posters, photos, books, recordings, and other collectibles." But Burgess told Paper Trails he is keeping a lot of his career-related memorabilia, and he earlier donated other items to KASU radio station in Jonesboro.

Visit gradyauctions.com for more info on the sale and to view photos of the items for sale. Burgess is not retiring, though. The group is scheduled to play some festivals in Arkansas and Tennessee this summer and fall, and has two albums coming out, one in August and the other in September. After that, the group is to perform in Las Vegas next April, in Europe next July and more.

The staff for the 2015 yearbook won first place in Best Yearbook Division Page/Spread, second place in Best Yearbook Sports Page/Spread and third place in Best Yearbook Cover. The entry marked the university's first time to enter the competition, says Polly Walter, faculty adviser. The yearbook's editor was Will Oldham, a journalism major. The winning yearbook was the 100th edition. It was themed "Moments in Time" and offered both a contemporary and historical look at the university.

CHASING AMY: Former Little Rock resident Amy Lee, best known as the frontman for the Grammy-winning rock group Evanescence, recently scored a film starring Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore, Michael Mailer's new drama, Blind, which is in postproduction. Lee also recently did some music for an independent film, a thriller mystery suspense titled Voice From the Stone.

IN THE GAME: Derek Jech of Gentry recently scored $50,000 on the inaugural episode of ABC's revived game show, $100,000 Pyramid, hosted by ABC's morning talk show host Michael Strahan and running for 10 episodes this summer. Jech was joined on the hourlong episode by three other contestants and four celebrity contestants -- Sherri Shepherd, Anthony Anderson, Rosie O'Donnell and Kathy Najimy.
