Where I live: the Quapaw Quarter of Little Rock, near the Governor's Mansion

Occupation: Musician, executive director of the Arkansas House of Prayer, yoga instructor

My favorite space is: my living room, which can quickly be converted into a space that's dedicated to yoga.

Why? I got into yoga as a college student seeking relief from overly taxed shoulders and wrists -- the life of a piano major. The practice has remained with me over the last 15 years, but I've never lived in a place that could accommodate its own "yoga room." When the opportunity to move back downtown to the Quapaw [Quarter] presented itself, one of my first thoughts was, "keep it simple," so I could have that yoga space. I live alone and rent out music rehearsal space two blocks away, so my apartment is a serene, minimal retreat of sorts.

I have my books and my living room where I can quickly clear space and roll my yoga mat out and get centered. This place is a real godsend. It and my "day job" at Arkansas House of Prayer -- a silent, interfaith prayer and meditation center -- keep me pretty grounded and peaceful ... most days!

If I could make one change to improve this space I would: add more plants. I saw these wall-mounted indoor gardens where you can grow herbs and things.
