Suspect arrested in shootings of 2 at Arkansas print shop

A manhunt came to an end Thursday after police arrested a 58-year-old man accused of shooting two people earlier in the day in Heber Springs, according to authorities.

Police in the Cleburne County city received a report of gunshots at 12:07 p.m. and arrived at The Print Shop on Arkansas 25, where they found two gunshot victims, Police Chief Bobby Walker said.

Police identified David Hammonds as a suspect in the case and began working with other area agencies and state police to locate him, according to reports.

A few hours after the shooting, the Heber Springs Housing Authority posted a warning for apartment residents to lock doors and windows, and to be wary of any unknown people in the housing complexes until Hammonds was arrested.

Police arrested Hammonds late Thursday in White County after he led officers on a road chase that started in Jackson County, Walker said.

The victims' conditions and identities were not released Thursday. Walker said more information would be released this morning.
