DODGERS

MILWAUKEE -- With Clayton Kershaw headed to the disabled list, the Dodgers have made a move to plug their starting rotation. The team has acquired Atlanta starter Bud Norris in a five-player deal. The Dodgers will also receive minor league outfielder Dian Toscano and a player to be named later.

Norris, 31, a right-hander, has posted a 4.22 earned-run average in 22 games for the Braves. In five June starts, he went 2-1 with a 2.15 ERA.

In exchange, the Dodgers gave up a pair of minor league pitchers, left-hander Phillip Pfeifer and right-hander Caleb Dirks.

Norris is well-traveled in recent years. The Orioles released him last August and he landed in San Diego. The Dodgers will be his fourth team since the start of the 2015 season.

Kershaw will miss at least two weeks because of a back injury. He received an epidural on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

MARLINS

Rodney acquired for wild-card run

ATLANTA -- The Miami Marlins have acquired closer Fernando Rodney from San Diego to bolster their bullpen for the NL wild-card chase.

Manager Don Mattingly has yet to express a lack of faith in A.J. Ramos, who has converted 33 saves opportunities since last season, so Rodney likely will serve as a setup man.

Miami traded minor league pitcher Chris Paddack to the Padres. The Marlins are one-half game ahead of two teams in the wild-card race.

Rodney, 39, will join his seventh team and sixth since 2011. He has 17 saves with 0.31 ERA in 28 games this year.

The Marlins said Rodney was not expected to arrive for the first of four games against the Atlanta Braves.

YANKEES

Sabathia's start pushed back

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees will push CC Sabathia's next start back a day so he won't have to bat and run the bases in an interleague series at San Diego.

The Yankees will call up Chad Green from Class AAA to pitch Sunday against the Padres. Sabathia will start Monday against the Chicago White Sox.

Manager Joe Girardi said Thursday that he didn't want to risk injury for the 35-year-old left-hander.

The right-handed Green has made one start for New York this season, allowing 6 runs, 4 earned, on 8 hits in 4 innings in a May 16 loss at Arizona. He pitched one scoreless inning in relief June 12 against Detroit before being sent down the next day.

The 25-year-old is 6-6 with a 1.54 ERA in 14 starts at Class AAA this season.

MARINERS

Zunino, Wilhelmsen recalled

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Mariners have recalled former first-round pick Mike Zunino from Class AAA Tacoma after backup catcher Steve Clevenger broke a bone in his hand.

Seattle made the roster moves on Thursday before opening a four-game series against Baltimore. Zunino and relief pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen were recalled, while Clevenger was placed on the 15-day disabled list and reliever Donn Roach was optioned to Tacoma.

The Mariners were hoping to keep Zunino in the minors for most of the season in the hopes the former No. 3 overall pick could rebuild his approach at the plate, but the injury to Clevenger forced the change. Zunino has been outstanding at Class AAA this season, hitting .282 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI in 69 games. He's tied for third in the Pacific Coast League in home runs and tied for eighth in RBI.

PHILLIES

Pitcher loses eye in accident

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Phillies minor league pitcher Matt Imhof lost his right eye after a freak accident with exercise equipment last week after a game in Florida.

Imhof said in an Instagram post Thursday that he had surgery Tuesday to remove the eye.

The pitcher was struck in the face by a resistance band that was anchored to a wall. The mounted base broke off the wall and damaged Imhof's eye.

He had surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami to replace his eye with a prosthetic one. Imhof said doctors told him that his eye was "crushed like a grape."

He also suffered a broken nose and two broken orbital bones. His agent said there are more procedures to come.

The Phillies drafted Imhof in the second round in 2014 out of Cal Poly. The 22-year-old left-hander recently was moved to the bullpen with high-A Clearwater. He has a 3.69 ERA in 173 career innings.

He didn't say if he plans to continue playing baseball.
