About 2,100 customers lose power in Fayetteville

Many Fayetteville residents were without power after heavy rain began around 3 p.m. Friday.

More than 2,100 customers in Washington County are without power, according to the Southwestern Electric Power Company website.

The outages are all in Fayetteville with the majority near the Fulbright Expressway and Gregg Street, said Peter Main, a spokesman for the power company.

“We don’t have a cause on it yet,” he said. “We are working to restore those outages right now.”

There isn't an official estimated time the power should be restored, Peter said, but it should be about 6-6:30 p.m.

“It will depend on what damage they find in the field,” he said.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for Benton and Washington counties, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
