Former LR Diocese bishop speaks at men's conference

Archbishop J. Peter Sartain of Seattle, former bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock, will be a featured speaker during the Arkansas Catholic Men's Conference VI to be held Feb. 6 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock.

Sartain was appointed as bishop of the Diocese of Little Rock by Pope John Paul II in 2000 and served until 2006, when he was appointed as bishop of the Diocese of Joliet in Illinois. He has been archbishop of Seattle since 2010. He also serves as secretary for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The conference, sponsored by the church and Men of Faith Little Rock, will begin at 8 a.m. with Mass celebrated by Bishop Anthony Taylor, the current bishop of the Diocese of Little Rock. The conference will continue until 4 p.m. Registration opens at 7:15 a.m. Cost is $40 and includes lunch, snacks and the conference guide.

Allen Hunt, a former United Methodist megachurch pastor and Catholic convert who is now a senior adviser for the Dynamic Catholic Institute, will also speak during the conference.
