"I was not surprised that it sold out," says Molly Rawn, director of development and communications. "I was surprised at how quickly it sold out."
Rawn says the museum started out with 250 available tickets, but once those sold out opened up 150 more.
The 21-and-over event's theme is CHILL. "We're doing a lot of work with ice and a play on the word 'chill,'" says Rawn. "That can mean chill out, or it can mean something that is literally cold."
Expect some unique offerings -- such as beer and chocolate pairings from Bentonville Brewing Company -- and come dressed to play, she adds.
Offering events for adults only is something the museum staff had planned to do even before the museum opened, she says.
"What kids and families learn together when they visit the Amazeum -- discovering their own sense of curiosity, discovering their own sense of creativity -- is not restricted to children," Rawn says. "Yes, that's our target audience (for the museum) and that's what we do, but that sense of discovery is lifelong. To us, it's a natural fit to continue that and to do specific things focusing on adults."
The next Amazeum on the Rocks is planned for April 28. More details will be released closer to the event. Rawn says the museum will announce the event -- in the member newsletter and Facebook -- before tickets are made available.
