Blytheville school board approves bus advertisements

BLYTHEVILLE — The Blytheville School board has approved an ordinance to put advertisements on the district's school buses.

The Jonesboro Sun reports that the act comes after the Arkansas Legislature passed a law last year allowing school districts to place advertisements on their school buses.

Superintendent Richard Atwill says buses could include advertisements from the district or other vendors. Proceeds from the advertising will go to the district's transportation department.

The state law says advertisements must be limited to the exterior of the bus on the rear quarter-panels, beginning at least three inches behind the rear wheel and not closer than four inches from the lower edge of the window line.
