Walker's 3-pointers carry NLR in fourth

Junior guard B.J. Walker sank four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to lead North Little Rock over West Memphis 56-44 Tuesday.

West Memphis (9-8, 2-3 in the 7A/6A-East Conference) led 39-34 with 5:39 to play in the fourth quarter when Walker lit up the scoreboard from long range.

His second three-pointer in the fourth quarter at the 3:26 mark gave North Little Rock (9-8, 3-2) the lead for good at 44-41.

"He's got the green light to take that shot," North Little Rock Coach Johnny Rice said. "He's done this before. He made five threes against (Little Rock) Parkview. He's been big for us this year."

Walker followed up that three with two more on consecutive trips down the floor to give the Charging Wildcats a 50-42 lead with 2:03 to play.

North Little Rock threatened to run the Blue Devils off the floor in the first half by building a 23-10 lead with 3:59 to play in the second quarter.

The Blue Devils rallied behind two three-pointers from Robert Harris to pull within 28-24 at halftime.

West Memphis held four leads in the second half before Walker got hot from outside.

Senior Adrian Moore of North Little Rock led all scorers with 19 points while Walker had 14.

West Memphis got nine points from Ahmere Albert and seven from Tevin Mosley.
