New district hires principals, officials

The Jacksonville/North Pulaski School Board has approved the hiring of six principals for schools in the new school district, as well as a treasurer and a director of technology.

Tonya Weaver will be the district treasurer, or chief financial officer, effective Feb. 3. She has been the treasurer in the Lonoke School District since 1998.

Johnny Haley, who has been the director of technology at Academics Plus Charter School in Maumelle, will start work Feb. 15 in the Jacksonville/North Pulaski system as the director of technology.

The elementary principals, whose hiring was approved Monday during a special meeting of the School Board, are Gary Beck, Myeisha Haywood, Jamie Reed, Angela Stewart and Janice Walker. The elementary principals have not been assigned to specific campuses in the Jacksonville/North Pulaski district.

All five are currently employees of the Pulaski County Special School District, from which the new school district is detaching effective July 1.

LaGail Biggs, a first-year principal of J.A. Fair High School in the Little Rock School District, was approved by the Jacksonville/North Pulaski board for the job of principal of Jacksonville High School, effective July 1.
