The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a flood warning along the Ouachita River in southern Arkansas.

The warning will continue through Wednesday and includes parts of the river in Calhoun, Ouachita, Bradley and Union counties, meteorologist Jeff Hood said Sunday.

Minor flooding is already occurring, and the river's level is expected to continue to rise through early Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.

Another flood warning is in effect along the southern portion of the White River from Augusta to Clarendon in eastern Arkansas as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases water from the reservoirs in the upper part of the river, Hood said. The reservoirs had been holding excess water accumulated during heavy rainfall last month and were being emptied in preparation for spring floods, he said.
