Prairie Grove man found guilty of child-pornography charges

A jury found a Prairie Grove man guilty of child-pornography charges Friday after a two-day trial in Fayetteville, Acting U.S. Attorney Kenneth Elser for the Western District of Arkansas said.

Jeremey Kelley, 42, was found guilty of four counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to court documents.

The investigation began in May when Homeland Security Investigations traced an IP address that was receiving child pornography through a file-sharing program to Kelley's home in Prairie Grove. Police obtained a search warrant in June, and officers found a Toshiba laptop containing child pornography, according to a news release from Elser's office.

Sentencing will take place at a later date. The minimum penalty for receiving child pornography is five years in prison but can include up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The maximum penalty for possession of child pornography is also 20 years in prison.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. It was prosecuted by U.S. assistant attorneys Denis Dean and Dustin Roberts.
