Wreck closes part of I-30 for 5 hours

An accident involving tractor-trailer rigs closed a westbound portion of Interstate 30 on Wednesday for approximately five hours, according to Arkansas State Police.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler said the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 110 in the Benton area. Westbound traffic was diverted to U.S. 67 at mile marker 114 southwest of Benton throughout the afternoon as crews worked at the crash site.

Traffic was backed up as far as Alexander as of about 5:55 p.m., according to an ArkansasOnline traffic map.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said in a post on its Twitter account at 6:25 p.m. that the westbound lane had reopened.
