Lasonia L. Tucker, 41, was charged with aggravated assault involving a family member in connection with the incident, which happened Sunday afternoon in the home in the 3300 block of Meador Road that she shared with her 18-year-old daughter, Latterica Tucker, said police Sgt. Lane Holmes.

According to the police account, Lasonia Tucker became upset when her daughter was reluctant to participate in Bible study. She repeatedly asked her daughter to read aloud, but she only mumbled the words. At that point, the mother picked up the extension cord and struck Latterica Tucker's arm, police said.

When the daughter grabbed the extension cord and refused to surrender it, Lasonia Tucker approached her with a serrated knife and the knife accidentally struck her daughter's right hand, police said.

Latterica Tucker's injuries were minor and didn't require hospital treatment.

Lasonia Tucker was held on a $5,000 bond and issued an order to have no contact with her daughter. She wasn't listed on the online inmate roster for the Craighead County jail on Monday evening.
