But Benninghoff hit two layups as Rogers scored nine points the final 56.7 seconds to force overtime.

"We said coming into tonight that our back was against the wall and our kids fought hard," said Rogers coach Wayne Herren. "When things looked bad, the kids kept fighting and believing. Those last four shots in regulation were big."

"Silly mistakes," said Heritage coach Tom Olsen. "We had things going our way, but we missed some free throws. Give credit to Rogers for making plays."

Madison Sandor was one of four Rogers High players in double figures with 14 points and the junior added six rebounds and a team-high five assists as the Lady Mounties defeated Rogers Heritage 50-41.

Mykelle Williams also scored 14 points for the Lady Mounties (8-7, 1-1) while Kelsey Richmond and Elise Randels added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Randels had a double-double with 10 rebounds while Williams had seven rebounds.

Sandor scored 11 points in the first half as Rogers took a 24-18 lead and the 5-foot-10 forward opened the second half with her fourth 3-pointer to help Rogers to a 38-29 lead going to the fourth period. Rogers scored on 12 of 23 second-half possessions.

"I loved the balance," said Rogers coach Preston Early. "Madison, the last couple of days, stayed after practice and shot 800 Sunday and then came back again Monday after practice. Madison is working hard to develop. Mykelle was so smooth and she played with a lot of poise."

Emily Seiler led Heritage (5-10, 0-2) with 12 points while Amber Turner and Hailey Tiles had 11 each. Heritage trailed 29-26 early in the third period but the Lady War Eagles would go over five minutes without a field goal as Rogers took a nine-point lead to the final eight minutes.

"We had a hard time scoring on Rogers' defense," said Heritage coach Kevin Ramey. "It's always hard to score on Preston's defense. We just needed a couple of more scores here and there."
