NWA fishing report

Beaver Lake: High muddy water hasn't stopped some anglers from catching good-size black bass.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said bites are few and far between, but some large fish have been caught. Good lures to use include jerk baits, crank baits, single-tail grubs, white jigging spoons and jig and pigs. The north end of the lake is producing best, from Rocky Branch park to the dam. The lake is muddy upstream from Rocky Branch.

No reports on crappie, stripers or other species, Whittle said.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina reports little fishing activity on the south end of the lake because of muddy water and floating debris.

Beaver tailwater: Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said the water is high. Fishing from a boat is best. There is little wadable water, she said.

Try Power Bait in bright colors tipped with a waxworm. Fish bait or lures in eddies, or current seams where slack water meets the current.

Trolling Flicker Shad crank baits can be effective when the tailwater is high.

Lakes Fayetteville, Sequoyah: Both are closed. They will reopen Thursday.

Swepco Lake: Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass fishing is good with plastic worms or swim baits. Try square-bill crank baits in shad colors. Best fishing is near the warm-water discharge from the Flint Creek Power Plant.

Siloam Springs Lake: Stroud said fishing is slow. Try for crappie with minnows 6 to 8 feet deep.

Bella Vista: Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass fishing is slow at all Bella Vista lakes. A few are being caught with crank baits or jig and pigs. Catfish are biting nightcrawlers.

Eastern Oklahoma: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports fair fishing at Lake Tenkiller for black bass with crank baits, plastic worms and jig and pigs 5 to 20 feet deep. Catfish are fair on stink bait or sunfish 20 feet deep around docks. Crappie are fair on minnows or jigs 10 to 20 feet deep around docks.

Table Rock Lake: No report this week.
