Tyson moving workers into Fayetteville's Fiesta Square

FAYETTEVILLE -- Tyson Foods is filling the space in Fiesta Square vacated by Hastings nearly 2½ years ago.

The Springdale-based company is renovating part of its headquarters, and between 150 to 170 employees from the procurement department will work out of the Fayetteville location, said Worth Sparkman, Tyson spokesman.

He wouldn't provide details of the lease but said the employees will work from Fiesta Square for at least a year.

Mathias Properties owns most of the property in Fiesta Square, and the Tyson space is 37,680 square feet, said Arthur Thurman, president and chief operating officer of Mathias Properties. Mathias is retrofitting the former Hastings store to accommodate the workers, he said.

"Retail shopping centers are designed for retail tenants," he said. "Tyson needed the space, and we were very glad to lease to them."

Fiesta Square has three additional spaces for lease. Thurman said a yet-to-be-announced business will move in the largest available space, the 12,400-square-foot site once occupied by Deals. He said details aren't finalized and wouldn't say what company would move in, but he added it's a "very well-known commodity."
