A suspected carjacker who police said suffered critical injuries in a wreck during a chase early Wednesday has died.
The Pope County sheriff's identified the man as Mashaud Richardson and said he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Richardson was a passenger in a car driven by Robert Rashaud Blake, police said. Blake, who was treated at a local hospital before being released into police custody, faces charges of aggravated robbery, fleeing and first-degree murder.
Authorities say the pair were suspected in an early-morning carjacking before leading officers on the chase on Interstate 40. It ended with a crash at exit 84 on the east side of Russellville.

Two men stole a truck they flagged down on a Pope County highway before leading police on a chase that ended with a suspected carjacker in critical condition, police said Wednesday.
Russellville police spotted the black truck four minutes after it was reported stolen at 3:25 a.m. from U.S. Highway 64 near the interchange with I-40, according to a news release from the Pope County sheriff's office.
The report says a brief chase on I-40 with Russellville police led to a wreck when one of the carjackers lost control of the vehicle trying to exit the interstate at exit 84.
Police say they arrested the driver, identified as Robert Rashaud Blake, 20, after a foot chase.
Blake was taken to a local hospital and released early Wednesday into police custody, according to the sheriff's office.
A second suspect riding in the stolen truck was in critical condition at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the report, the victim told police he was robbed at gunpoint of his wallet and truck after the two men flagged him over to a stopped vehicle along the side of the highway.
A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the first vehicle used to help lure the victim was also reported stolen.
