Pulaski Academy didn't need a last-second basket by Lawson Korita on Friday night to beat Little Rock McClellan.

But the Bruins got what they needed from Korita -- a career-high 40 points -- to beat the Crimson Lions 61-55 at Hugg Gymnasium in Little Rock.

"I left it all on the floor," Korita said. "I tried to take over the game. We got it done."

Korita, who has signed to play at the University of Tulsa, hit a last-second jumper on Jan. 15 to lift Pulaski Academy to a 64-63 victory at McClellan.

Pulaski Academy Coach Roger Franks said he isn't surprised by what Korita does for his Bruins (14-5, 8-3 5A-Central).

"He's had several games like this," Franks said. "Any time someone has a night like him, it's a tribute to him and his teammates.

"It was a good win for us."

McClellan (8-14, 4-6) got within 48-44 with less than seven minutes remaining, but Korita was too much for the Crimson Lions. Korita hit a layup after teammate Tra Johnson blocked Michael Halton's layup attempt, and Korita then hit a three-pointer to extend the Bruins' lead to 53-44.

"I'm glad he's a senior," McClellan Coach Chris Threatt said. "I'll be glad when he's gone, in the nicest way possible."

Korita scored 16 of his 21 first-half points in the second quarter as the Bruins took a 34-28 halftime lead.

Raymond Harris led McClellan with 20 points. Marcis Hall added 14 points.
