SPRINGDALE -- Police arrested a man and a juvenile in connection with Friday's stabbing on South Thompson Street.

Martin Turrubiartes-Olvera, 20, of 1625 Tucson Loop A was arrested Saturday in connection with aggravated robbery, second-degree battery and engaging in violent criminal group activity, all felonies, according to a news release from the Police Department.

Turrubiartes-Olvera also faces four misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the release.

The juvenile was arrested in connection with accomplice to aggravated robbery and engaging in violent criminal group activity.

Turrubiartes-Olvera was released Sunday from the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 9 in Washington County Circuit Court.

Police didn't provide details on the juvenile's status.

Officers found a man with stab wounds about 8 p.m. Friday at 702 S. Thompson St., Springdale Police Lt. Derek Wright said.

Three businesses -- Royal Prestige, Estella's Beauty Salon and El Rodeo Western Wear -- occupy the brick building on South Thompson. Royal Prestige is a kitchen supply company and El Rodeo Western Wear is a clothing store.

The victim told police he was stabbed in the chest and abdomen by two juveniles while Turrubiartes-Olvera and another juvenile punched and kicked him, according to a preliminary arrest report.

The victim said the attack was unprovoked and one of the juveniles displayed gang signs and made "gang-related statements" as reason for the attack, according to the report.

Turrubiartes-Olvera and the two juveniles left the area in a dark colored SUV with two female juveniles inside, according to the release.

The victim was treated Saturday for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital, Wright said Monday. Police declined to release the man's name.

In a separate case, Eliazar Torres, 21, was stabbed twice in the neck Jan. 10 at Scottish Inns & Suites, which is a half mile south of where Friday's stabbing occurred.

Torres died Jan. 12 at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. Police have arrested eight people in connection with the homicide.

Wright said he doesn't believe the stabbings are related.

Friday's stabbing is under investigation, Wright said, adding that he doesn't want to speculate whether the incident was gang related "without all the facts."
