A map showing the location of Devil’s Den State Park.

Length: This 1.5-mile, moderately difficult loop at one of the state's most beautiful parks is a dirt path with some narrow portions over steep rocks.

Main attractions: The trail is one of the most diverse in the state and especially lovely after a heavy rain. There are springs, magical eroded sandstone formations, the Devil's Den cave itself (currently closed), Boston Mountain vistas and, best of all, two towering wet-weather waterfalls.

Hazards: Deep crevices and dropoffs yawn adjacent to portions of the trail, just ready to gobble up the inattentive hiker.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly? No bikes, and keep your dogs and small fry on a leash. I'm serious about the crevices.
