Arkansas women can’t catch Texas A&M

The No. 1 Arkansas women’s track and field team placed second at Texas A&M’s Charlie Thomas Invitational with a score of 102. Entering the day scoreless, the Razorbacks took the second spot in the 12-team field off event victories in the long jump, pole vault, 200-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. Sophomore Taliyah Brooks was the first individual winner of the day in the long jump. Elsewhere in the field, senior Megan Zimlich took first place in the pole vault, clearing 13-9 to match her personal best. Two-time SEC Runner of the Week Taylor Ellis-Watson captured the 200-meter title with a time of 23.25. Texas A&M won the meet with 144 points.

BASKETBALL

Arkansas Baptist crushes Mid-South

Six players scored 10 or more points as No. 18 Arkansas Baptist defeated Mid-South Community College 118-84 Saturday night in Little Rock. Kaanan Jackson scored 24 points to lead the Buffaloes (22-3), and Letron Thomas had 20. Ruston Hayward and Stevie Clark both scored 14 points, Anthony Black added 13 and Harold Cardwell tallied 10 points.
